Yala Peak Climb Langtang Valley Trekking

A seven-hour scenic journey from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi on a bus or a private vehicle will start your Yala Peak Climb-Langtang Valley Trek. Riding across both steep and unpaved paths alongside the Trisuli River, you’ll catch your initial views of Nepal’s impressive mountain ranges such as Manaslu, Jugal Himal, and Langtang.

Afterward, you’ll arrive at Syabrubesi to spend the night.

Lama Hotel is a tranquil location tucked away in a forest and our destination for today. Traversing the Langtang River through a bridge, and climbing steadily through meadows, farms, verdant lush forests, and small settlements, we’ll reach the hotel.

The trekking today will be short and easy with the vast scenery of Annapurna Range and the beautiful nature all the way.

The trek will begin shortly after sunrise as you follow the stream until you arrive at Ghoretable, an indigenous horse barn in the Langtang region. Then, advancing forward, you’ll arrive in Langtang Village, a location blessed with breathtaking vistas of Langtang Lirung peaks, jagged stone cliff walls, and luscious woods.

Then, couple of more hours of walking from Langtang village, we ultimately reach Mundu.

Today marks a significant milestone in our journey as we reach Kyanjin Gompa at 3870m. While enjoying the amazing views of the towering Himalayas on a narrow route, we reach the Gompa.

Also, along the way you’ll come across several Buddhist relics including colorful prayer flags, chortens, and boulders with Buddhist sayings. The hike today will be short leaving you ample free time to explore the surroundings and acclimatize.

There are two fantastic day hikes from here, Kyanjin Ri, a shorter hike, and Tserko Ri, a longer/difficult option. So, for today we’ll go on the easier one. Setting off on a steep trail slowly moving upwards with snowy mountains on your side, you’ll hike for about 5 hours.

Then, upon reaching the Kyanjin Ri viewpoint unveils a breathtaking view of Langtang Lirung Glacier, Langtang Lirung Peak, Yala Peak, Changbu.

After taking some photos and capturing the beauty in front of you, you’ll head back down to Kyanjin Gompa via the same route.

The hike to Tserko Ri, another pinnacle of this expedition will be the most difficult one so far. Tserko Ri, towering at five thousand meters above sea level, presents us with a vast vista featuring the entirety of the Langtang Valley, twenty Himalayan peaks, and glacial lakes.

You’ll head towards Tserko Ri on a steep incline with marked stone showing the way. From start to finish, the path to Tserko is consistently steep until reaching the summit, adding to the overall difficulty of this hike. Nevertheless, the views from Tserko Ri are utterly breathtaking!

For the major trek ahead, we’ll spend a day replenishing our energy and ensuring we’re in top form. You can simply unwind at your lodge, recheck your gear, acclimatize, or go on some small hikes to nearby locations.

Doing light exercise also helps keep you well-rested and ready.

The trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Yala Kharka Base Camp is a challenging one, but it will be equally rewarding. Starting from Kyanjin Gompa, we take an uphill path passing through forests of rhododendrons, small villages, and pastures.

As we get closer to the base camp, the path inclines sharply and becomes more challenging. But the satisfaction of reaching the camp is worth it. The base is a beautiful point with up-close views of high peaks including the Yala Peak.

The epitome of the expedition is here as we summit the lofty Yala Peak at 5,500m. We’ll set off before dawn following the lead of our guide, using our gears as instructed on the strenuous steep snowy path to the summit.

Reaching the summit of Yala Peak will be a memorable moment, as you’re presented with unparalleled towering views of the snow-capped peak of Nepal including, Ganchenpo, Naya Kang, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and others.

With a feeling of great accomplishment, we’ll move back down towards the base camp. Then, after resting for a while we’ll get back to Kyanjin Gompa for the night.

As you’ve summited the Yala Peak at an astounding height of 5500m, you’ll now retrace your steps back to Kathmandu. Following the same trail as before, you will walk towards Lama Hotel today.

Along the way, you’ll get to view the beautiful scenery of woodlands, and pastures, as you reach Lama Hotel. You’ll also pass by Mundu and Langtang Village.

Enjoying the expansive scenery of the Annapurna Range and the beautiful settlements once again, we’ll get back to Syabrubesi. The path will lead us through dense woods, and farms as well.

Arriving at Syabrubesi concludes our Yala Peak Climbing trek. Enjoy the night at a guesthouse in Syabrubesi reminiscing about the memories and experiences you’ve had so far.

Today, after breakfast we’ll leave Syabrubesi and get back to Kathmandu via a long bus ride. The ride will be lengthy but scenes of soaring Trisuli River, and glimpses of Manaslu, Jugal Himal, and Langtang will keep you refreshed all the way.

After reaching Kathmandu, you’re free to either unwind at your hotel or stroll around the streets of Thamel, Kathmandu.
