Tsum Valley Trek

Our Tsum Valley Trek begins from Kathmandu, the heart of Nepal. After gathering all the necessary paperwork and equipment we begin our 16-day journey. Firstly, we take a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Arughat following the Prithivi Highway along the banks of the Trishuli river.

Next, after reaching Dhading Bensi, we take a route following the Budhi Gandaki River to reach Arughat Bazaar. From Arughat Bazaar, we can view the towering mountain peaks Mt Mansalu(8163m) and Mt Ganesh Himal(7422m). Arughat is a small settlement area on the banks of Budhi Gandaki. After 2 hours of drive, we reach Soti Khola.

In the early morning, we continue our trek by crossing Soti Khola viewing stunning views of rivers and waterfalls. Moreover, our trekking trail walks us through the enchanting Sal forest. On our way, we reach Lapubesi, an ethnic Gurung village. Then, we follow a sandy river along the banks of Budhi Gandaki to reach Maccha Khola crossing Nauli Khola.

We continue our journey trekking from Maccha Khola to Jagat. Today, we start by trekking to Tharo Khola which we will cross to enter Khorlabesi to reach Tatopani. Also, Tatopani is a famous place in Nepal for natural hot springs. Later, we come across a stone staircase with prayer flags to reach Tharo Bharyang leading us to Jagat.

At Jagat, we register our permits for Manaslu and Tsum Valley at a checkpoint before continuing our journey. Then, we climb a rocky ridge to reach Salleri, which provides excellent views of Mount Sringi(7187m), and descend to Siridibas.

Then, we cross the longest suspension bridge in Nepal to reach Lokpa, the entry point of Tsum Valley. We have finally entered the Tsum Valley. Here, we can view the serene nature of the beautiful Manaslu range.

Also, the isolated village of Lokpa is said to have been blessed by Padmashamva many centuries ago. Later, We will spend our night here at a Lodge concluding our day’s journey.

Today, we take a scenic route following a narrow Gorge with incredible views of Boudha Himal (6672m) and Ganesh Himal. Then, we descend to Lungwa River Valley and follow a trail comprising lush forests filled with rhododendron, juniper, and pine.

We reach Chumling after a short while after crossing Syar Khola. Here, Our trek will provide you time to trek around the three main monasteries of Chumling, The Panago Gompa, Mani Dhungyur, and Gurwa Gompa.

These monasteries provide us with a beautiful cultural insight into the rich Buddhist heritage of the region. You can explore the area viewing Tibetian architecture and the serene environment of the region.

Today, we trek from Chumling to Chhokangparo starting early morning. We follow Shair Khola and reach Domje, the largest town in Tsum Valley. From here, we climb uphill to reach Chhokangparo in around 5-6 hours of trekking.

In Chhokangparo, we can enjoy the famous Tibetan tea and marvelous views of Ganesh Himal.

Our destination for today is Nile Village. We pass the Phiren Phu Cave, also called the Pigeon Cave. Then, we continue our trek reaching two gumbas on the way.

After 4-5 hours, we will cross a suspension bridge on Shair Khola to reach Nile village. We conclude our tiresome journey at a local lodge tonight.

Mu Gompa is the largest monastery in this region, which is also our destination for today. Before that, we reach Dephyudonma Gumba, one of the oldest in the region.

Mu Gompa, established in 1895, lies at the highest and farthest point in the Tsum Valley. It features a life-size statue of Avalokiteshwara and a few portraits of Padmasambhava and Tara.

Continuing our trek, we head to Rechen Gompa situated at an altitude of 3700m which also borders Nepal and Tibet. We reach Chhule and Phurba along the way.

Afterward, we take a route on the east banks of Siyar Khola to reach Rachen Gompa. Rachen Gompa, built in 1905, is an ancient site preserving Buddhist history.

Today, our trek leads us back to Chhokangparo on a route towards Chumling. Later, we reach a small white Gompa at Gho (2485m).

From here onwards, we descend on a path crossing a bridge to reach Domje. Then, we head east following a lush forest trail to reach Lungdang Gompa.

Finally, we reached Ganesh Himal Base Camp today. Ganesh Himal Base Camp provides breathtaking views of the incredible mountain ranges and its serene atmosphere. At the highest point of our trek, we are able to take in the beauty of nature and are rewarded with the invigorating refreshing air of the mountain. Shortly after, we return to Gumba Lungdang.

Starting today, we retrace our paths back to Kathmandu as we have reached Ganesh Himal Base Camp. Firstly, we descend to Domje crossing the Laudang Khola. From here, we head south following a lush enchanting forest trail to Ripche. Then, we descend to Batti Ghumlong and from there ascend to reach Lokpa.

Today, we descend back to Jagat where we will again meet the Gandaki river. After a rewarding ascend to Ganesh Himal Base camp, we follow a pleasant trail crossing several suspension bridges to reach Jagat.

In the early morning, we descend to Lapu Bensi walking downhill crossing suspension bridges on the way. After arriving at Machha Khola, we cross the Nauli Khola bridge and go along the sandy Buddhi Gandaki River to Lapu Bensi.

Our destination for today is reaching back to Arughat Bazaar. We follow the Buddhi Gandaki River to reach Soti Khola. Then, we take a drive to Arughat Bazaar. We stay overnight at a lodge parting ways with the mountain peaks.

Following a scenic route, we take a drive back to Kathmandu concluding our glorious 16-day trip. In Kathmandu, we bid you farewell from the program. We part ways with the incredible memories of the journey to reach Ganesh Himal Base Camp.
