Now, Our Nar Phu Valley Trek commences with a sweet drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar taking in the charming view of the soaring Trishuli River. Hereafter, we will advance to our first major viewpoint Kang La Pass. In order to reach Kang La Pass we go on a series of treks, Dharapani to Koto, Koto to Meta, Meta to Phu Gaon, Phu Gaon to Nar Gaon, and finally Nar Gaon to Kang La Pass.

Along our journey, we will stumble upon several villages, Jagat, Tal Village, Bargarchhap, Koto, Meta, Nar, and Phu village. Among these villages Nar and Phu are the most significant village as the name of our trek is Nar Phu Valley Trek.

Nar, Nar village is one of the few villages which has preserved its traditional culture for generations. Nar village feels like going to the past where traditional culture, vibrant festivals, intricate handicrafts, and ancient rituals come to life. You are free to learn and even partake in some of their traditional ceremonies. That will significantly enhance your experience.

Moving on to Phu, Phu village is stationed amidst Himalayans, Phu is also known as the hidden gem of Himalayas. The serenity of Phu village due to its authentic crafts and customs is unmatched. Phu Village dwells around an altitude of 4000 meters, so the euphoric scenery of landscapes and greenery is guaranteed. Phu Village allows you to observe unique festivals, customs, culture, and lifestyle.

After passing through these serendipitous villages, we finally reach Kang La Pass enjoying the beautiful terrains of Temdenzon Khola and Pisang Peak. Upon reaching Kang La Pass, you will be rewarded with the divine view of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak.

Thereafter, we embark on our next viewpoint, Thorong La Pass. To reach Thorong La Pass we pass several treks, Kang La Pass to Ngawal, Ngawal to Manang, Manang to Kharka, Kharka to Thorong Phedi, and lastly Thorong Phedi to Thorong La Pass.

On this journey, we stroll through Tekni and Gunsan villages, Gunsan village is famous for yak and horses. Also majestic view of Tilicho Peak and Annapurna will keep to energized throughout the journey.

After several strenuous treks, we finally reached Thorong La Pass, An unreal place with a pristine expansive panoramic view of several mountain ranges, Annapurna I, II, IV, and Dhaulagiri, as well as Fishtail, Manaslu, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, Tukuche Peak, and many other mountains.

View from Thorong La Pass is truly worth seeing. Thenceforth, we descend to Muktinath Temple, a sacred holy place for Hindus and Buddhists. Here, this will pretty much conclude our trek.

Hereafter we will drive back to Kathmandu taking in scenic views of the Trishuli River and Ganesh and Manaslu peaks. Kathmandu will be the end of your journey. Congratulations on the Nar Phu Valley trek.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (760m) to Jagat (1,300m)

Your 16-day-long ar Phu Valley Trek starts with a bus ride from Kathmandu to Besisahar. The drive provides a charming view of the soaring Trishuli River and the sights of Whittaker taking on the rapids of the Trishuli River. Also, a glimpse of the Ganesh and Manaslu peaks could be visible in this drive.
After reaching Beshisahar, we’ll continue on and get to Jagat, a Tibetian-influenced village.

Day 2:

Trek from Jagat (1,300m) to Dharapani (1,860m)

Day 2 will start with a steep climb uphill towards Chame, and then crossing a suspension bridge will get you to Tal Village. We’ll take a break at this village and enjoy the waterfalls here.

Thereafter, we continue on our route to Dharapani for the night.

Day 3:

Trek from Dharapani (1,860m) to Koto (2,610m)

From the third day onwards, you’ll be entering the Nar Phu Valley region. Today we’ll hike through forests or pines and fir and pass by several monasteries, and traditional villages leading us to Bargarchhap.
Bargarchhap is a beautiful village offering stunning views of Annapurna II, Manaslu, and more. Then, moving forward through pine forests will get to Koto, a Gurung village.

Day 4:

Trek from Koto (2,610m) to Meta (3,560m)

We’ll start our day early by visiting the checkpost at Koto and registering our permits. Then alongside the Soti Khola, we’ll make our way to Dharamshala. On the way, we’ll pass through dense pine forests, and waterfalls, and also cross several suspension bridges.

Then, we’ll continue toward Meta, a Tibetan village. From here, the panoramas of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal are truly captivating.

Day 5:

Trek from Meta (3,560m) to Phu Gaon (4,250m)

Today, you’ll trek to Phu Village from Meta via a gradual up-and-down route while getting stunning views of Annapurna II and Pisang Peak. Following the path, you’ll pass by typical local villages: Chyakhu and Kyang village.

Leaving Kyang, we’ll head to Phu on a rocky path, passing Phu Khola and ultimately reaching the Phu Gate. Phu is one of the significant villages, given the name of our trek.

During our time at Phu, we’ll visit the Tashi Lhakhang Monastery and witness the distinct blue sheep and the unique culture of locals there.

Day 6:

Trek from Phu Gaon (4,250m) to Nar (4,110m)

On day 6, we’ll head to our next grand village of the journey, the Nar village. We’ll cross two high passes today including, Phu Pass at 5,050m and Nar Pass at 5,400m. Reaching the pass unveils gorgeous vistas of several Himalayan ranges.

Then, we’ll walk through many suspension bridges including the Mahendra Pul leading us to Nar.

Day 7:

Acclimatization Day at Nar

Today will be a rest and explore day at Nar. Yesterday we reached one of our major destinations on this journey, so we’ll take some time to explore the village, visit certain places, know the people, and experience the rich culture of the locals.

Nar is known for its stunning mountains, rich cultural heritage, and its several monasteries. We’ll visit the infamous monasteries present here.

Day 8:

Day 8: Trek from Nar (4,110m) to Kang La Pass (5,322m) to Ngawal (3,660m)

We’ll be crossing yet another high pass today, the Kang La Pass at a height of 5,322m. We’ll begin our ascent to Kang la Phedi via the lateral moraine of Temdenzon Khola passing through yak pastures while soaking in stunning views of the Pisang Peak.

Then, following a steep path, the grandeur of Kang La Pass’s panoramic views awaits. Unparalleled views of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak can be witnessed from here.

Day 9:

Trek from Ngawal (3,660m) to Manang (3,540m)

Walking alongside the Marsyangdi River, passing through thick forests and local villages like Braga and Paugh takes us to Muglin. We’ll also enjoy the spectacular vistas of the Tilicho Peak and Annapurna ranges along the way.

Then, from Mungli, we’ll move via the standard Annapurna trails and reach Manang, our destination for the day.

Day 10:

Trek from Manang (3,540m) to Yak Kharka (4,110m)

We’ll head to Yak Kharka crossing a soaring stream and passing through the Tenki Village. Then, walking past a few pasture lands and juniper trees will lead us to Gunsan Village. Reaching Gunsan, you’ll get to experience flat mud roof houses, yaks, and horses grazing.

Thereon, we make our way to Kharka, with spectacular views of snow-capped peaks in the distance. Yak Kharka is a peaceful settlement with incredible views all around.

Day 11:

Trek from Yak Kharka (4,110m) to Thorong Phedi (4,600m)

Today we will be getting to the bottom of yet another high pass of this trek. We’ll set off from Yak Kharka climbing a ridge and get down to cross the Marsyangdi River.

From there, we’ll continue our path through narrow trails and landslide-prone areas with majestic views of the mountains and rocky landscapes surrounding us. You’ll then soon get to Thorong Phedi, where you can rest, replenish your energy, and acclimatize to the altitude.

Get a good night’s sleep for the tough day tomorrow for the climb to Thorong La Pass.

Day 12:

Trek from Thorong Phedi to Thorong La Pass (5,4525m) to Muktinath (3,800m)

The big day is here. We’ll cross Thorang-La Pass at 5416 meters, one of the highest navigable passes in the world!

With excitement and nervousness, we’ll begin our walk before dawn through the cold air and steep climb on snowy paths. The trek up will be tough, but the vistas will be equally rewarding.

Upon reaching the pass, you’ll feel indescribable admiration for the unparalleled sights before you. Views of the peaks around Thorang-La Pass including the Annapurna Range are simply otherworldly.

After enjoying the vistas, we’ll get ready to leave for Muktinath, a sacred religious place for Hindus and Buddhists. With a steep downhill trek overlooking breathtaking views, we’ll get to Muktinath and spend the night there.

Day 13:

Trek from Muktinath (3,800m) to Jomsom (2,715m)

After a filling breakfast, we’ll make our way toward Jomsom passing terraced farm fields and several villages like Jharkot, Khingar, and Kagbeni. As you get closer to Jomsom, the difference in the landscape from previous days becomes more vivid. You’ll go from seeing snow-capped mountains to dry-rough terrains.

Upon reaching Jomsom, you can rest at a guesthouse and also explore the town’s attractions.

Day 14:

Drive from Jomsom (2,715m) to Tatopani (1200m)

After a hefty breakfast, we’ll catch a bus ride back to Tatopani. On the 7-hour bus ride, you will see beautiful sceneries of green hills, the Annapurna Range, the Kali Gandaki River, and more.

Upon reaching Tatopani, you can indulge yourself in the infamous natural hot springs there and get rid of all the fatigue and exhaustion.

Day 15:

Drive/Trek from Tatopani (1200m) to Pokhara (850m)

There are two options to get back to Pokhara from Tatopani: you can either opt to take a bus ride or a walking trail. Either way, your journey back to Pokhara will be scenic and exciting. Reaching Pokhara, you can take some rest and explore the happing night street of the lakeside areas.

Day 16:

Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu

This marks the final day of your Nar Phu Valley Trek. The adventurous journey through many highland villages of Nepal, experiencing their culture and traditions, the unforgettable sceneries you’ve seen can never be forgotten.

Taking an early bus ride following the Marsyangdi River and the Trishuli River, with views of low land landscape, traditional villages, and terraced farms will get you back to Kathmandu.
