Mount Everest Expedition

To start on the Mount Everest Expedition, you’ll start by getting to Kathmandu. After you arrive here, your tour agent will pick you up and drive you to your hotel. Feel free to relax erase your fatigue and explore around the streets of Kathmandu later on.

As there is a lot of paperwork and permits that you’ll need to move on the Mount Everest Expedition, we’ll take this day to complete the preparations, there will also be short briefings about the trek, the routes, and other climbing training.

As the preparations will take a whole day, you won’t get a chance to explore the attractions of the city. So, on this day, we’ll tour the city and pay a visit to sites listed in the UNESCO World Heritage site including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Swoyambhunath, Boudhhanath, and more.

Finally, on the fourth day, you’ll leave Kathmandu and fly to Lukla on a short 30-minute flight. Lukla is the starting point for many similar expeditions. Now, after a short break, we hike to Phakding, a picturesque village offering breathtaking landscapes and glimpses into the rich cultures of locals.

We’ll start by crossing the Dudh Koshi River and move along a smooth trail passing through forests, and some small settlements. Moving on this route takes you to the entry of Sagarmatha National Park, where your permits will be registered.

Then crossing several suspension bridges, enjoying the glimpses of snow-capped peaks, dense woodlands, soaring rivers, and beautiful landscapes, we make our way into Namche Bazaar.

Namche is a vibrant town at a height of 3340m, which makes a good spot for acclimatization purposes. We’ll spend the day resting and replenishing our energy. We can also choose to walk up to some viewpoints to enjoy the stunning views of towering Mt. Everest, Mt. Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and others.

Take this opportunity to interact with locals and experience their traditions as well.

Advancing on a steep route surrounded by rocky hills, forests of rhododendrons, and pines, and crossing rivers on suspension bridges, we get to Syangboche then Khumjung. The trek will take about 6 hours but you’ll get to enjoy the stunning panoramas before you.

After arriving at Khumjung and checking in at your lodge, you can opt to visit the infamous Khumjung Monastery to offer your prayers and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings from there.

The trek from Khumjung to Tengboche will take around 4-5 hours on a beautiful trail through rhododendron forests and small villages of Sherpas. We’ll also stop by come of these villages to witness their rich culture and lifestyles.

Then, ascending this route with scenic vistas of the towering peaks like Ama Dablam and Thamserku, we eventually reach Tengboche.

Early in the morning, we’ll visit the Tengboche Monastery, stay for a spiritual prayer, and leave for Dingboche. With changing landscapes, walking on rugged terrains with steep ascents and descents, and passing through forests of rhododendrons in about two hours we reach Pangboche.

Then, continuing on a mountain trail, passing by some towns along the Imja valley, we arrive at Dingboche village.

Enjoying the vistas of Ama Dablam, we move towards Dugla, a small village. Then, walking on a zigzag path up the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier will be tough but the unparalleled scenery and memorials for past climbers along the way will keep you motivated.

Moving on with another 3-4 hours of hike, you’ll finally reach Lochuche which holds majestic views of many high peaks of Nepal like Nuptse, Tawache, Ama Dablam, Cholaste, and more.

Lobuche is a beautiful village offering stunning scenery all around. So, take this day to rejuvenate, explore, and experience the rich cultures of the inhabitants. You will be highly motivated to keep on your journey as you behold memorials honoring courageous mountaineers who lost their lives on Everest’s slopes.

Moreover, the vistas from this vantage point are simply breathtaking.

Finally, on the twelfth day of your journey, you’ll head to the long-awaited Everest Base Camp. Starting with a steep climb up which drags on throughout the trek, makes this very strenuous and challenging. We’ll also gain a lot in altitude, so make sure to rest often as you go.

Moving on these difficult unstable terrains, we pass by Kala Patthar to witness the breathtaking sceneries from the viewpoint. We’ll then start climbing towards Everest Base Camp. The hike to EBC is difficult and passes across rocky, rough terrains.

After arriving at the base camp, relax and enjoy the magnificent views of Khumbuste, Pumori, and Nuptse, among other stunning mountains.

Finally, the most anticipated time is here, from today onwards your ultimate adventurous and the most demanding climb starts.

Before pushing straight to the summit, you’ll take your time acclimatizing to the higher altitudes. You’ll leave the base camp and gradually move up the mountains to Camp 1 at around 5900 meters, where you’ll spend some days adapting to the elevations and low oxygen levels.

Then, once you are properly acclimatized, you’ll move on to the next higher camps which include Camp 2 (6400m), Camp 3 (7,100m), and Camp 4 or the South Col (8000m). Depending on your conditions and the weather, you’ll prepare for days rotating among these camps.

Finally, when you’re ready, you’ll leave for the fourth and last camp, also called South Col. Navigating through the Yellow Band, and the Geneva Spur, two rocky paths, we reach Camp 4, which faces Everest to the north and Lhotse to the south.

Ultimately, on the last stretch, you’ll reach the summit of Mount Everest, ascending from Camp 4, and passing through demanding terrains. Savor the accomplishment of reaching the true summit of Mount Everest (8,848.86m), take photos, and begin descending to base camps carefully.

If everything goes as planned, in around 38 days, you will be back in the Everest Base Camp. The overwhelming triumph of summiting Everest will forever be etched into your soul, so it’s essential to get plenty of rest and shed any exhaustion to get back safely.

You’ll spend this day at the base camp reflecting on the epitome, you’ve cleared and spend a good time with your crew.

As you’ve completed our Everest expedition, you’ll start returning back to Kathmandu. Today, you’ll arrive in Pheriche after a quick 6-hour walk on a steady downhill trail. Pheriche is a charming village with lush farmlands and hills.

You will also cross rivers and walk across the Khumbu Glacier’s moraine wall while taking in breathtaking views of small towns, farms, and landscapes.

We’ll return to Namche Bazaar today, following a trail that passes along the Dudh Koshi River, past Tengboche.

The hike back can be long today, but the breathtaking views will certainly be worth it. Then, once you arrive in the town, you may spend a relaxing evening at your lodge. Engage with the inhabitants, and learn about their customs and way of life.

Your Everest Expedition tour concludes today with a trek back to Lukla. We will go via the same settlements of Jorsalle, Manjo, Benkar, and Phakding on our way from Namche Bazaar to Lukla.

Moreover, the lovely scenery along the way will accompany us once again, making this last trek even more memorable.

On this day, traveling over picturesque hills and mountains, the 30-minute flight will take you back to Kathmandu. After arriving in Kathmandu, you may unwind and recharge at your accommodation while reflecting on the difficult voyage you’ve just accomplished.

You can use this as an extra in case you don’t make it to Kathmandu tomorrow. You can stroll around Kathmandu’s bustling streets, and go shopping around the streets of Thamel if you have time.

With this, your Mount Everest Expedition concludes with priceless experiences and memories. Depending on your flight’s timing, your agent will make arrangements for airport transfer.
