Mardi Himal Viewpoint Trek is a newly opened trek route inside the Annapurna Sanctuary Area, offering breathtaking scenery. From the magnificent sight of Mardi Himal to the snow-capped peaks of Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Machhapuchre, and Gangapurna Himal, every step of this journey is worth the investment.

Additionally, the Mardi Himal Trek is the only trek in Nepal that takes you to an altitude of 4000 m+ in a short span of 4 days. The increasing abundance of tea houses along the trekking route makes it more accessible for individuals with varying levels of fitness, offering convenient options for meals and overnight stays.

Moreover, this trek traverses through densely covered oak and rhododendron forests, so you also have the opportunity to witness local wildlife such as Musk deer, Langurs, other monkeys of various species, Danfe (Lophophorus), and porcupines.

This hidden gem offers stunning mountain views, wildlife encounters, and a single hike through lush forests, allowing visitors to witness the Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, and Machhapuchre.

We need to traverse through three trails: Pokhara to Forest Camp, Forest Camp to High Camp, and finally High Camp to Mardi Himal Viewpoint.

We kick start our Mardi Hinal Viewpoint trek from Pokhara and continue to Kande, where we trek towards Forest Camp. After the 2-hour hike up the hill, we will reach Australian Camp, mostly traveling through the forest.

Here, we can take a short break before starting our journey again. The forest camp is located in the middle of a dense forest. You will also encounter diverse wild animals and bird species, making the trail even more appealing.

After Forest Camp, our next destination is High Camp. Along the route, we will come across Bada Danda, where we can stop by for lunch and recharge our energy. The path to High Camp is filled with lusty trees, vibrant wildflowers, and views of snow-capped mountain peaks. Upon arrival, we are greeted with the majestic sight of the Himalayas.

Finally, we will reach Mardi Himal Viewpoint after a 4 to 5-hour hike from High Camp. Mardi Himal Viewpoint is elevated to an altitude of 4200 m. From this vantage point, you’re treated to a breathtaking view of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna III, Macchapuchre, and Gandarva Chuli. As we immerse ourselves in the awe-inspiring beauty of nature’s artwork, we’ll journey back to Badal Danda, passing through High Camp along the way.

Following our brief yet rewarding excursion to the Mardi Himal Viewpoint, our journey back will lead us through the charming village of Sidhing in the Annapurna region, followed by the quaint town of Lumre, before we eventually reach Pokhara.

Our journey kicks off with a scenic 45-minute hike from Badal Danda to Low Camp. From there, it’s a 4 to 5-hour trek to Sidhing village. Here, you can engage with locals from diverse communities like Gurung, Chhetri, Brahmin, and Taman, immersing yourself in their rich cultures, tasting authentic cuisines, and enjoying heartfelt hospitality.

Afterward, a scenic 2-hour drive from Sidhing brings us back to Pokhara, winding through lush forests and charming settlements along the way. As we conclude our journey, we carry with us the fond and joyful recollection of our expedition to Mardi Gimal Viewpoint.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Arrival in Kathmandu

You will be greeted by your representative at the airport upon your arrival in Kathmandu. Afterward, you will be guided to your hotel, where they will provide you with a brief overview of your trip. Following this, you can opt to rest for the day or venture out to explore the city at your leisure.

Day 2:

Drive or Flight to Pokhara

We have two options to go from Kathmandu to Pokhara: flying or taking the bus. Flying to Pokhara presents us with a swift 25-minute journey with a breathtaking view of towering peaks amidst ethereal clouds.

On the other hand, a bus route traverses through lust forests, showcasing the rugged beauty of mountains and the vibrant local communities. Upon arrival in Pokhara, we are greeted with a majestic mountain panorama. Additionally, we can embark on a serene boat excursion.

Day 3:

Drive from Pokhara to Kande & Trek to Australian Camp

From Pokhara, we will hop on a 1-hour bus to Kande, our starting point for the trek to Mardi Himal Viewpoint. From here, we start to trek towards Forest Camp, a scenic route that will take us around 7 hours.

We will pause at the Australian Camp to recharge before continuing our trek through a lush forest adorned with vibrant rhododendrons. After a 4 to 5-hour hike, we will arrive at Forest Camp, nestled in the heart of the forest. Here, we will settle in for the night amidst the tranquil surroundings.

Day 4:

Trek to High Camp

Today, we will trek towards High Camp, with a refreshing stop at Badal Danda along the way. This trail includes a stairway, making the hike to Badal Danda relatively easier. We will stop for a delightful tea and lunch break.

After a rejuvenating rest and some exploration, we will resume our trek toward the High Camp from Badal Danda. This leg of the journey will take around 3 to 4 hours of hiking along a straight path that steeps upward.

Upon arrival at the High Camp, we are greeted with the breathtaking sight of the dignified Himalayas, We will spend the night here, soaking in the serene beauty of the surroundings.

Day 5:

Trek to Viewpoint & back to High Camp

Our journey to Mardi Himal Viewpoint begins at the crack of dawn, setting off at 4 am to ascend the trail. Along the way, we will witness the magnificent snow-capped mountain peaks catching the first rays of the morning sun.

As we reach our destination, the picturesque mountains loom even larger. The sunrise painting of the white peaks in hues of gold and pink creates a scene straight out of a dream. From the Mandi Himal Viewpoint, we are greeted by dignified mountains like Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna III, Macchapuchre, and Gandarva Chuli.

After soaking in the breathtaking vista, we will continue our way towards Badal Danda, passing High Camp, where we will spend the night.

Day 6:

Trek to Sidhing & Drive to Pokhara

We will head down from Badal Danda, navigating a steep path that takes us about 45 minutes to reach Low Camp. From here, our path will lead us to Sidhing village, nestled in the Annapurna region and home to the Gurung community.

In this charming village, we will engage with the locals, indulging in their rich culture and embracing their warm hospitality while taking a well-deserved break to rejuvenate from our trek. Finally, a scenic two-hour drive through lust forest and quaint settlements will return us to Pokhara.
